Set your sheet dimensions to match your printer
In the Canvas Builder, create a new sheet with the exact width and height of your DTF or UV DTF press. Most shops run 22-inch or 24-inch wide rolls at lengths from 1 foot to 10 feet. Save as a preset for future runs.
Set your gap and margin
Industry-standard gap is 3mm to 5mm between designs. Margin (distance from sheet edge) is 5mm to 10mm to account for film registration. Tighter than 3mm risks designs bleeding into each other after trim. Save as preset per printer.
Import all designs for this sheet
Drag every design that needs to print onto the canvas. Mix sizes freely. The auto-pack engine handles mixed dimensions better than manual placement because it rotates and rearranges combinations a human would miss.
Run auto-pack
Click the Auto-Pack button. The engine places every design with the best-fit rotation to maximize utilization. Typical first-pass result is 80 to 90% utilization on mixed-size jobs.
Manually fine-tune the layout
Review the auto-pack output. Drag any design that could fit a better slot. Use shift-drag to rotate in 15-degree increments. Small manual adjustments often push utilization from 88% to 93%.
Check the live utilization metric
The builder shows utilization percentage in real time. Aim for 85% minimum. If you are below 80%, add more designs to the sheet (gather orders) or reduce sheet length. Shops running under 75% utilization consistently are paying for film they never sell.
Export the final sheet
Export as PNG or TIFF at 300 DPI with the white underbase separated. The export also generates a manifest CSV showing each design's position, size, customer, and order ID for pick-and-pack.
